lost in a fire

quissett boatyard
040602

I am sad to say that the building in the center of this picture was seriously damaged
by fire this week.  The top of the roof is burned through and the rear of the building
is completely destroyed.  The very front section, where the two men can be seen,
holds a set of precious classic design sailboats, by Herreshoff.  It looks as though it
might not be damaged, but we must wait for further reports.

I have spent many precious hours wandering through this boatyard taking
pictures, and extend my sympathy and support to the owners, who have
been so hospitable to me and so grace our world with what they do.
