in the studio

With apologies for the quality of this picture -- from my cellphone -- I put this up here to
say something about what I'm doing in my studio.... I like the way that Antonio Machado does this .....
I have recently started to take a really hard look at an abstract minimalist style, both in the image and
in the presentation.  This sunrise I saw last Sunday is now a 20x26 inch pigment ink print, mounted flush
against a piece of non glare glass, held in a thin maple frame by a wooden strainer secured by
screws.  On the left is a varnished print done about seven or eight years ago... it is these
frames that I am reusing.  On the right is a classic florentine gold frame, which I love to
use for portraits and landscapes.

But it is the style in the middle that excites me right now.  I see the possibility of putting big
blocks of color and emotion on the wall in a pure form.  Probably, eighty years late, I am
thinking of being an abstract expressionist.

Anyway, here it is.  I hope you like it.
