on my birthday

This picture is me.

It is about renewal and rebirth in the cradle of the city that renewed a massive
piece of our consciousness.  It is about ends and beginnings, on a trip following the
death of my mother, back to the city where my older daughter was conceived;
this picture was taken on her 24th birthday.

The curves of the door and of the bike evoke for me Goethe's line, the last in Faust,
"Das ewig weibliche zieht uns hinan."
The gold leaf makes a magic wall and expresses the shower of light from above
that started me taking this picture.

The bicycle's wheels are still now.... we know that they will turn but not for whom.
We know that they will make their cycle and we hope that we will make ours.
This year when I died one day is over, and a new one begins.
I hope to live all its days well.

Thanks for being there.
