ReplyDeleteGood morning Robert,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your many diversified and very kind comments on my blog. I was especially happy about your estimated collegial opinion.
I especially like this image because the viewer's attention by the chosen perspective on the peace and quiet of this place draws and invites him to take the path into the picture.

hello Isabella, thanks very much, I enjoy your paintings very much, and I am deeply interested in the relationship between painting and photography as expressions of art. so I am certainly interested in your experience working in both media. When I started to look at this scene I was drawn by the detail of the most beautiful gates. In the end however, I was more moved by what these gates led to. they themselves have somewhat receded into the scene. regards, robert
ReplyDeleteOn March 1, the Florentine Frames gallery in Weston, Massachusetts sold a 12x18 inch print of this for $700. The print is varnished, mounted on canvas and framed in a 2 3/4 inch gold frame (florentine style of course :-)). I hesitate to say anything about business here, but the fact is that I am trying to make my living by selling my art. So, one way or the other I have to deal with the relationships between the spirit of an image and the material realities of presenting and selling it. I think that the conjunction of sharing it here, getting your comments, and selling the work in the gallery was a very nice happening. robert
